Tokyo features an extensive public transportation network with multiple nodes which act as beating hearts of the city, causing a daily influx and outflux of vast amounts of commuters. This dynamic is contrasted by large parts of the elderly population and their limited radius of movement. It is a disparity that expectedly leads to diverging spatial perceptions of the city. However, it also results in feelings of alienation and remoteness that are similar in nature since in both cases they are rooted in a disconnect from their surroundings. The aim is to reconnect both parties with the city environment. By superimposing an elderly hub on top of a train station we re-engage them with each other and create a common node on the neighbourhood scale.
